ARTISOFT'S LANTASTIC(R) FOR WINDOWS(TM) NETWORK UTILITY NOW
SHIPPING
Features Icons, Pull-Down Menus and DDE for LANtastic Local
Area Network
(TUCSON, Ariz.--September 30, 1991)-- Artisoft announced
today that it has begun shipping its new LANtastic for
Windows network utility which allows the LANtastic network to
be run totally from within Microsoft(R) Windows(TM) 3.0.
Priced at $299 per network, it requires LANtastic(R) NOS 4.0
or higher(sold separately) to operate.
"LANtastic(R) for Windows(TM) was designed for those
LANtastic users who prefer the Windows interface and
operating environment," said Jack Schoof, Artisoft President
and CEO.
The LANtastic(R) for Windows(TM) network utility offers
the same features as the DOS-versions NET and NET_MGR
programs, but within the easy, graphical user interface of
Microsoft Windows' pull-down menus, icons and on-line help.
It also supports Dynamic Data Exchange(DDE) so that Windows
applications can use LANtastic e-mail to exchange messages
and transfer data. For Example, with DDE, a user can create
an Excel spreadsheet and send it ot a remote user who will
then be able to double-click on the file to open it in the
application in which it was originally created.
Artisoft develops and manufactures a full line of
hardware and software for local area networks including the
LANtastic Local Area Network. The LANtastic network is a
peer-to-peer network that allows users of IBM-compatible
computers to connect and share information and peripheral
devices such as printers, hard drives and CD-ROMs.
